Trinity Hospital has been the right place for Dr. Timothy McKnight for over 19 years. It’s been a place where his caring ways and his passion for innovation have flourished.

Dr. McKnight is a family physician who received his medical degree from Ohio State University. He also has his master’s in nutrition and is a fellow in the American Academy of Family Practice. He was drawn to the Twin City area as part of his commitment to the National Health Service Corps. He loves serving the good, quality people of our rural community.

And our community has been the right place for Dr. McKnight to raise his family and pursue his outside interests and hobbies. Like many of his neighbors and coworkers, he enjoys watching college football and basketball. He surprises people with one of his hobbies—he pole vaults!

Trinity’s Fit for Life program, nationally recognized as an emerging best practice program, was founded by Dr. McKnight. This program helps accomplish what is most important to him: helping people to reverse their disease process, improve their health, and balance their hormones. He wrote an article about Fit for Life, published in the August 2018 issue of the CDC’s Preventing Chronic Disease. It was republished in December 2018 as one of the journal’s Top 10 articles of the year.

Though Dr. McKnight’s innovations landed him at a meeting at the White House in 2012, recognition is not what brings him job satisfaction. Instead, it’s his work environment. “I genuinely enjoy everyone I work with, from top to bottom. When I come to work, I feel I am surrounded by friends who will support me and help me practice medicine to the best of my ability.” Dr. McKnight likes the variety in his work; he spends 70% of his time in his family practice, 15% in administration, and 15% as a hospitalist.

Trinity's core values of reverence, service, and stewardship resonate with Dr. McKnight. He sums it up this way: “I see how our hospital employees care for our patients and the community and it inspires me to minister in a more Christian way. This might sound trite, but this is truly how I feel.”
